Prof. Vladimir Kludryavtsev

Satellite Oceanography Laboratory, Russian State Hydrometeorological University, St. Petersburg, Russia

In 1981, Prof. Kudryavtsev passed his PH.D thesis on Physics of Sea at Marine Hydrophysical Institute in Sebastopol. In 1991, he got a Senior Doctorate degree in Geophysics (Physics of Sea) at Marine Hydrophysical Institute, Sebastopol. From 1986, he has been Head of Remote Sensing Department at Marine Hydrophysical Institute. From 2002, he holds a Senior Position II in Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center in Bergen, Norway and Professor at Russian State Hydrometeorological University in St. Petersburg. From 2005, he is also Leading Scientist at Marine Hydrophysical Institute and Research Director at Nansen International Environmental and Remote Sensing Center in St. Petersburg and from 2011, he became Executive Director of Satellite Oceanography Laboratory at Russian State Hydrometeorological University in St. Petersburg. His Scientific interests and teaching fields are mostly wind waves and air-sea interaction, remote sensing but also radar scattering, experimental and satellite oceanography. His current research activities range from air-sea interaction at high wind conditions, wind waves to radar and optical imaging of ocean phenomena (surface currents, fronts, waves, oil spills) but also small-scale wind waves, exchange processes at the sea and wind driven current and turbulence in the upper layer.
